Moon Rise at 39,000 Feet

CIMG0178 - CopyLast night I was flying from Chicago to Washington during the rising of the “Super Moon.” The view was simply spectacular. I took a few photos, but my cell phone camera does not begin to capture the beauty of this natural phenomenon. The time was about 9 P.M. EDT over Toledo, Ohio at 39,000 feet. We were heading almost due East. The lights of the city are just visible below the low cloud layer. The air is very thin at that altitude, almost 80% of the atmosphere is below you. The effect is a stunningly clear view!
